In May 2006, Mike and Anita set up a music project in Mauritius for children living in the area of City Kennedy in the town of Quatre Bornes. The aim being to use music and creativity as a tool to promote positive activities, encouraging and enabling young people to make a lasting change to their lives and their environment.
Being a child of the City, Mike was concerned about the disintegration of his community and how young children took for normality the presence of alcohol and hard drugs, in an environment where dealers and addicts were openly visible on the streets. The music project works with children and young people age 8-18.
In 2010 before Mike came to Scotland, he and the children of lionspiritmusic school project were asked to perform at an event held by TIPA at City Barkly in Mauritius.
